Abstract
Vegetable production needs intensive workforce and irrigation due its structure. Because of this, the production is made to feed the family members rather than trading the product in several regions of Turkey. But, when observed in details, vegetable production is an intensive agricultural activitiy which is not preferred because of the need for enough technical knowledge and the need of a hard work. In the Thrace region, cereal (wheat) and plants with oil seed (sunflower) production is done in 95.8% of the agricultural areas. The areas with vegetable production are 1.7% of all the agricultural areas occupying a small percentage. In the Thrace region, rich ground and surface resources and many irrigation dams make it possible for vegetable production on farms.
