Abstract
The 1973 Oil Crisis was an oil embargo on October 15, 1973, launched by the Oil Exporting Union of Arab States (OAPEC) to the Western states that supported the Israeli army in the Arab-Israeli war that took place in 1973. The embargo on which it was implemented has had striking effects on the short term. About four times the increase in oil prices has affected the economies of the oil exporting countries in a great way and the oil revenues changed direction and started to flow to the Middle East countries. The cost of production has increased with the crisis, and this is reflected negatively on consumers. There have been contractions in the country's economy and a period of stagnation has begun to take place. All these developments have set the stage for the emergence of the phenomenon we call stagflation. In this study, the process of the formation of the 1973 Oil Crisis was discussed and the effects of this crisis on the country's economies were examined. The 1973 Oil Crisis is accompanied by some politics to be followed by stagflation and stagflation.
