Özet
In this paper, a hierarchical decision making framework based on multi-criteria decision making approach is presented to prioritize the wind energy production farms located in Mediterranean sea region of Turkey. Some criteria such as economic, technical, and environmental are considered for the evaluation model. In addition, an artificial neural network (ANN) model based on back propagation neural network (BPN) is also used to assess the alternative sites for wind energy generation. A comparison between proposed approaches is made to select the most appropriate wind energy production farm. It is found that the results obtained from ANN model and fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) approach are similar. Moreover, Anamur district is the best area among the alternatives for establishing wind turbines in Mediterranean sea region of Turkey. The originality of the paper comes from the application of the proposed FAHP approach to the selection of the best wind energy production site and the comparison with ANN. © Sila Science.
