Özet
This study was conducted to draw attention to the link between gender and economic development. In this context, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Gender Data was used to reveal gender equality. With available data on education, governance, and employment, a comparative analysis is made between European Union (EU) member countries and Turkey. Following the results, a relationship has been established with the development levels of countries that ensure gender equality by comparing the per capita gross domestic product (GDP) and the ‘human development index’ (HDI), which are the criteria used in determining the level of economic development. The study finds significant associations between gender equality as the indicator of development and income of the countries and groups. Hence, the development levels and GDP of the developed countries with gender equality are high. © 2023 selection and editorial matter, Ramesh Chandra Das; individual chapters, the contributors.
