Özet
Meslek, bir kimsenin hayatını kazanmak için yaptığı, kuralları toplumca belirlenmiş ve belli bir eğitimle kazanılan bilgi ve becerilere dayalı etkinlikler bütünüdür. Ayrıca insanın yaşamını sürdürebilmesi için gerekli olan, eğitim ve bilgi birikimi gerektiren süreçlerin sonunda bireylerin kazandığı unvanın adıdır (Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı). Çağdaş bir toplumda, bir bireyin mesleğini seçmesi yaşamındaki en önemli kararlardan biridir. Günlük yaşamın büyük bir bölümünün çalışılan ortamda ve çalışılan işe yönelik faaliyetlerle geçtiği bilinmekte ve meslek seçiminin ne kadar önemli bir karar olduğu toplum tarafından kabul edilmektedir. Meslek seçimi sadece bireyin ne iş yapılacağı ile ilgili değil aynı zamanda nasıl bir yaşam sürüleceği ile de ilgilidir. Bireyin seçtiği meslek gelecekteki yaşam standardını, tarzını ve sosyal yaşantılarını belirleyici bir rol oynamaktadır. Bu nedenle meslek seçimi ile ilgili verilen karar bir anlamda gelecek yaşamla ilgili verilen önemli bir karardır. Meslek seçiminin bilinçli yapılması hem birey hem de ülke geleceği için önemlidir. Bu bağlamda çalışmamızda bireylerin meslek seçiminde etkili olan unsurlar belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla, öncelikle meslek seçiminde etkili olan faktörler araştırmak amacıyla ilgili yazın incelenmiş, daha sonra İstanbul da çalışan farklı demografik unsurlara sahip 481 birey üzerinde bir anket çalışması ile bir uygulama yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda bireylerin meslek seçimin etkileyen 5 faktöre ulaşılmıştır, bu faktörler; mesleki bilgi ve beceri, yüksek kazanç ve sorumluluk beklentisi, statü beklentisi, aile ve eğitim çevresi, mesleğin yapısal özellikleridir. Meslek seçiminde etkili olan bu faktörlerin demografik değişkenler ile ilgisi incelenmiş ve cinsiyete, medeni duruma, yaş gruplarına, çalışma durumu ve eğitim durumuna göre farklılıkları olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırmanın, ülkemizde bireylerin hangi faktörleri göz önünde bulundurarak meslek seçimi yaptıklarını özetleme ve buunsurlar için, medeni durum, eğitim durumu ve yaş grupları arasındaki farklılıkları ortaya koyma açısından, ilgili literatüre katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir
An occupation, which is necessary to earn a good living, is a collection of activities based on knowledge and skills that are formed by a certain education and defined by a society. The choice of profession is not just about what an individual is doing, but also about what kind of life he/she is going to live. In this context, we tried to determine the factors that are effective in the choice of the occupation of the individuals. For this purpose firstly, the related literature was examined with the aim of investigating the factors that are effective in choosing an occupation and then, a survey was conducted on 481 individuals with different demographic factors working in Istanbul. As a result of the research, five factors affecting the occupation choice of the individuals were reached. These factors are; professional knowledge and skills, high yield and liability expectations, status expectation, family and educational environment, occupational structural characteristics. It was determined that the choice of profession varies according to sex, marital status, age groups, working status and educational status. The results of the research are important in order to summarize what factors affect the individuals choice of occupation in our country.
