Abstract
Today, due to the speed and scale of urbanization, cities are faced with many complex environmental, social and economic challenges, including meeting people’s needs and demands for basic services. Nature- based Solutions (NbS), a relatively new concept that can be defined as multifunctional and very useful solutions, that address these challenges by utilizing ecological processes, has received increasing attention especially in recent years. So much so that today NbS is seen as a fundamental mechanism, especially for ensuring sustainable development, and in this context, projects and partnerships are carried out on many different platforms. In this study, an answer has been sought for the question of “What can be done on the basis of ecology, from building scale to regional scale, in order to solve the problem of the reduction of biodiversity, which today’s cities are in great struggle with?” Accordingly, in the study; completed projects of different scales (regional, metropolitan, urban, street, building) on some platforms created within the scope of NbS are discussed. The effects and contributions of the implementations to the urban ecosystem are examined. As a result, proposals for urban policies and strategies have been developed with NbS regarding practices for different scales of urban studies. © 2023 Peter Lang GmbH, Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften.
