This study was conducted to predict soil moisture profile of sunflower and viticulture under Tekirdag conditions for rainted and irrigated conditions using SWAP model. With this aim, results from the field studies of sunflower and viticulture were compared with the simulated ones. The climatic data during the growth season and soilwater related parameters (matric potential and hydraulic conductivity as a function of soil moisture and soil water constants) were the model input. Soil moisture data for 10 cm intervals along the profile every 3 days were the model output. The water consumption was calculated from the soil moisture profile. In general, model simulation data were reasonable agreed with the measured data while there was better agreement under rained condition for both crops. The poor agreement under irrigated conditions was attributed limited number of soil moisture measurements (ten-day intervals) in the field studies. While the model promises, field studies specifically conducted to test the model are suggested.
