This paper tries to explain the basic characteristics of Second National Architectural Movement which took place between 1940 and 1950‘s of Turkey in Republican period, upon eight distinctive buildings in Ankara and İstanbul. The planning and faşade typologies were evaluated at the end of the paper. The architectural designs for new state purposes, as well as their reception in the highly new developing context of Turkish Republic, requires the study to emphasize the principles as well as the professional perspective and background of the architect of the contemporary architectural context. Meanwhile, the public buildings produced during this period, their design reflecting the transition to the new government and a dual structure consisting of modern and traditional texture can be observed. © Peter Lang GmbH Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften Berlin 2021 All rights reserved.
