Özet

The purpose of this work is to investigate the heterogenous photocatalytic decolorization of the remazol dyes, namely remazol red (RR) and remazol blue (RB) using synthesized TiO2 impregnated pumice as a new composite. The effect of composite amount and pH on the photocatalytic decolorization was evaluated in this study. The photocatalytic experiments were carried out in a photoreactor equipped with sixteen UV-A light lamps (Philips 8W, in 350nm wavelength) at 30°C constant temperature. The surface of the composite before and after photocatalytic experiments was characterized by SEM-EDX analysis, while decolorization of the dyes was followed by means of peak absorbance of each dye. Toxicity of by-products formed during oxidation was tested on Daphnia magna following acute standardized test during 24 and 48hours exposure times. SEM-EDX analysis showed that. TiO2 particules were mostly impregnated on the pores of pumice with a ratio of 1.60% Ti. Maximum removal of RB was observed using 2.5g/L composite amount while a 2.0g/L of composite amount proved maximum removal of RR dye. Decolorization rates of both dyes were observed to be higher at acidic conditions than basic conditions. The recovery and reuse experiments showed that 75.3% and 84.0% decolorization efficiencies of RB and RR dyes could be obtained even at the third use of the synthesized composite in the range of 90 and 120minutes oxidation times, respectively. © 2019 Elsevier Inc.
