The unique characteristics of rural areas such as natural texture, land structure, production style, settlement pattern, architectural texture have entered the process of change and transformation over time. In this process, rural areas were integrated with concepts such as development, ecotourism and planning in upper scale plans and policies, and they were handled within the framework of approaches in which different understandings and models were handled. This situation, which is discussed in upper scale plan and policy approaches, has also been reflected in academic studies and various researches have been carried out on related issues. In this context, a general evaluation of academic studies on rural development, ecotourism planning, rural planning and rural landscape planning has been made in the study. For this purpose, it is aimed to quantitatively analyze the articles and postgraduate theses written between 2000 and 2021 in the scopus and YÖK thesis search databases on related topics. The articles and theses indexed by the databases were examined in terms of the year they were published, the subject and the departments. Relevant data are presented in the form of graphs and charts. In the evaluations, total of 8305 articles were registered under the main headings of rural development, ecotourism planning, rural planning, rural landscape planning, ecotourism development in the Scopus database, and 335 postgraduate theses (271 master's and 64 doctorate) in the national thesis center database have been reached. As a result of the research, it was determined that the studies on the related subjects varied according to the years, subjects and departments. While the area with the most publications and theses was rural development, least number of articles and theses was ecotourism planning. The progress of rural development, ecotourism planning, rural planning and rural landscape planning in the last 20 years will be revealed and the main resource value for national and international studies will be established with this study.
