This study was performed to investigate effects of apricot kernel (AK) supplementation to quail diets on performance, egg quality and incubation parameters. In the trial, 64 female quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) were used. 4 treatments, each of which was made up of 16 quails, were constituted. The duration of the experiment was 12 weeks. As from 5. week of the experiment, different levels of apricot kernel (0, 1, 2 and 4%) were supplemented to the diets of each group by pulverizing apricot kernel (AK). In the study, quail eggs obtained from the quails that were 8 and 10 weeks old were analyzed as fresh to measure egg quality parameters. After egg laying period which lasted 5 weeks, 32 male quails were added in the cages. After fertilized eggs obtained, they had been put in the incubator and then incubation parameters were measured. According to the performance parameters in the study, egg production and egg weight were not affected by dietary treatments (P>0.05). However, feed intake and feed conversion ratio (FCR) was found the highest in the 2% AK supplemented group (P<0.05). Also, when the internal egg quality parameters were evaluated, the egg yolk color was darker in the AK supplemented groups (P<0.001). In addition, the alpha-tocopherol level was significantly higher in the eggs obtained from 2% AK supplemented group than those of the other treatment groups. According to the incubation parameters, the late death ratio was found numerically lower in 2% AK supplemented group.
