Özet
Preterm births are the leading cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality and the most common cause of prenatal hospitalization. Approximately 12% of live births worldwide occur in the preterm period, and preterm labor leads to 50% of preterm births. Although it is known that some factors increase the risk associated with preterm labor, it is not known exactly which patients will experience preterm labor. In suitable patients with a history of preterm birth, prophylactic cerclage or vaginal progesterone treatment are alternatives that should be kept in mind. The aim should be to select the most appropriate tocolytic therapy in the appropriate patient, to organize lung maturation with antenatal corticosteroid therapy and neuroprotective therapy with magnesium sulfate therapy, to ensure that delivery is carried out in the most appropriate center for the neonatal intensive care unit under the most appropriate conditions. © 2023 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
