The determining and comparing of nutrient composition of some alternative feeds with chemical analysis and near infrared reflectance Spectroscopy (NIRS) techniques was purposed in the research. Cotton leaf, cotton seed, mulberry leaf, olive leaf, carob, artichoke leaf, and crop residue of tobacco were used as alternative feed materials. The differences in the crude protein (CP) values of feeds analysing with two methods was lower compared to the differences of the other nutrient values of feeds. The crude fibre (CF) content of carob was determined similar in both technique, while the ash, ether extract (EE), NDF, ADF, CP and CF (P<0.05) content of carob were determined differently. There were no (P>0.05) differences content of ash, EE and CP of olive leaf, mulberry leaf and cotton seed between two technics. As a conclusion, nutrient contents of some plant materials considered as alternative feed were determined by the chemical and NIRS methods. But, for the results analyzing by NIRS method in order to give the results that are closer to the values analyzing by chemical methods, further researches containing much more feeds samples and also covering the different physiology stage of plant is needed to enrich the results of this study.
