Nursing Care of a Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia Patient: A Case Report

Ventilator-associated pneumonia in our country is one of the most common infections in intensive care units and is considered the most common nosococial infection seen in the intensive care unit.This infection also has high rates of morbidity and mortality caused by multi-resistant bacteria.In this study, risk factors, diagnosis and treatment, nursing diagnoses and nursing interventions of ventilator-associated pneumonia patients were planned, applied and evaluated.In this case report; In line with Gordon's functional health patterns model, ventilator-associated pneumonia patient was evaluated and a nursing care plan was created. As a result, pneumonia developed after hospitalization was investigated in the patient who was connected to a mechanical ventilator in intensive care units. It has been observed that pneumonia can be prevented if the patients who are treated, the medical staff who provide care, the intensive care nurses perform treatment in accordance with the care rules. © 2022, Ebru Bagci.
