Özet
Bu makalenin konusunu oluşturan Akçapınar Nekropolü, Çürüksu/Lykos Vadisi’nde, Denizli'nin 70 km. kadar kuzeyinde Akçapınar Mahallesi yakınlarında yer almaktadır. 2012 yılında gerçekleştirilen ağaçlandırma çalışmaları sırasında bir grup mezarın tespit edilmesi üzerine söz konusu alanda Denizli Müze Müdürlüğü tarafından kurtarma kazısı yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma sonucunda on dört adet mezar yapısı ortaya çıkarılmıştır.
Akçapınar Necropolis is located near the Akçapınar neighborhood, on the Lycos Valley, 70 km far from the north of Denizli. The graves were found during reforestation carried out in 2012 and salvage excavation was carried out by the Denizli Museum Directorate. As a result of this study, fourteen grave structures were uncovered. The Necropolis is covered by a layer of soil because it was built on the hillside. In the area, some types of rock such as hewn tomb, the hewn rock panel boat tomb and simple panel boat tomb can be observed. Natural rock was used in the construction of the tombs and travertine blocks were used in the slabs. Travertine blocks must have been brought from Thiounta ancient city which is located near Necropolis. In the tombs, in humation burial methods were applied and many burials were detected in some tombs. In the surveys conducted by the Hierapolis excavation team in 2005-2006 and from Roman inscriptions, it was proved that Akçapınar and the surrounding land were connected to Hierapolis. As a result of these data, it can be concluded that Akçapınar Necropolis must have belonged to a small settlement that dealt with agriculture. Terracotta bowl, oil lamp, unguentarium, jug, bottle, glass unguentarium, tile bead, bone hair clip, marble objects, metal objects, and other findings and artifacts as grave goods have been found. In addition to these, two city coins were also among the findings. These findings show that Necropolis was used between the 1st century BC and 3rd century AD.
