Crises are devastating events which primarily have impact on the surrounding environment and which may spread all over the world if they are failed to be stopped. Any type of crisis can lead to enormous impacts. However, the political crises which have occurred especially in the last five years have affected the whole world by morphing into armed conflicts, terror attacks and wars. Therefore, terror based crises without doubt pose the greatest threat to human life. They also pose a great danger for tourism. Unfortunately, touristic destinations have become the primary targets of assailants who try to destroy the history and economy, who want to ruin the evidence of history and erase the footprints of cultures. In this study, it is aimed to examine the effects of terror based crises on ANZAC Day commemorative ceremonies. These ceremonies are contributing to the continuing friendship, which was born after a global crisis, for generations. In 2015, because of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli, a large number of Australians and New Zealanders attended the ceremonies. Also in 2016, it was thought that this demand would continue, but the number of participants has dropped to 2,000 from 50,000 due to the terrorist attacks that occurred in Turkey. This situation also affects the region and the country as damage to the country's tourism image and confidence. In this context, the effects of terror based crises on ANZAC Day commemorations are examined in this study. For this purpose, firstly a literature review was made and then secondary data analysis performed; statistics of visitors were examined as well.
