Öğe Assessing the usability of university websites: An empirical study on Namık Kemal University(Turkish Online Journal Educational Tech-Tojet, 2012) Menteş, Süleyman Ahmet; Turan, Aykut HamitWeb sites are emerging as a key component of an organization's survival in our ever globalizing competitive world. Usability of a web site has assumed a great deal of importance in terms of satisfying web site users' needs and expectations. The aim of the study is to evaluate and to explore the usability level of Namik Kemal University (NKU) website and provide guidance to develop better and more usable web sites. The research hypotheses have posed six different theoretical factors to be positively associated with website usability. The results have revealed that five of the six factors can positively and significantly affect the web site usability perceptions of NKU members. Results also revealed that some of the demographic factors tested, such as gender and web experience, have significant impacts on usability perceptions of individual users. Furthermore, the study also discusses the potential benefits of improved website usability on governance and proposes ways to improve the usability of websites.Öğe Corporate governance practices: Dissemination on Turkish web sites(Ivy League Publishing, 2013) Turan, Aykut Hamit; Ahmet Menteş, SüleymanAs Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) evolve, we have started to feel their significant impact on our professional lives. Recent corporate scandals in developed economies have also underscored the importance of adopting appropriate corporate governance practices. This study aims to explore web site design and content features of Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) listed firms. While our analysis has revealed that the utilization of design features and the type and extent of the corporate information content do not differ much among the studied industries, we found some statistical differences based on Corporate Governance Ratings (CGRs). Bireyler İnternet üzerinden alışveriş yapma davranışlarında çok önemli farklılıklar göstermektedir. Tüketicilerin İnternet üzerinden alışveriş yapma veya yapmama tercihlerinin altında yatan psikolojik ve bilişsel nedenler hakkında daha fazla ve detaylı bilgi sahibi olmak, firmaların bu konuda uyguladıkları stratejilerini daha etkin ve doğru belirlemesine önemli katkılar yapacaktır. Bu çalışmada, sosyo - psikoloji literatüründe yaygın olarak kullanılan Planlı Davranış Teorisi TPB , Yapısal Eşitlik Modeli SEM kullanılarak tüketici davranışını tahmin etmek için test edilmiştir. Internet Shopping has become a daily activity for most of us. However, there are very limited studies to investigate cognitive factors influencing individuals' online shopping behavior in a developing country context. In this study, two widely used socio-psychology based theories, the extended version of Technology Acceptance Model (e-TAM) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), have been tested in Internet shopping context and the results are compared for a Turkish sample. This paper presents a theory-based design framework for e-learning that emphasises the transformative interaction between technology readiness and innovativeness. This study is a theory-building investigation and offers a theory-into-practice framework that characterises the implications of innovativeness and motivation in the recent trend of the higher education use of internet technology to facilitate its own operations, in the form of e-learning. In order to reach transformational paradigm shifts in governmental operation, it will first be necessary to understand and optimize present governmental e-Service provisions. Of these, the revenue function of taxation is paramount. This paper describes factors related to the use and acceptance by accounting professionals of information technology intended to facilitate electronic tax filing systems. Though tested in the context of governmental tax management systems in Turkey, our findings on the use and acceptance of e-Tax systems are relevant and applicable to a great number of nations and contexts as the ongoing electronic transformation of the governmental revenue system contributes to efforts to transform governments through alternative services delivery venues and channels. We discover that intention to use automated systems as part of the governmental treasury function transformation is hindered by factors that mediate actual plans to do so, mostly in terms of normative pressures and perceptions of behavioral control, which training and education may well ameliorate. Hence, transformation of the treasury function in Turkey is only partially complete and will require additional support, direction and training on the part of the government in its interactions with the tax professionals who interact with the emergent automated system. Araştırma, Ayşe Menger Kız Öğrenci Yurdunda kalan öğrencilerin tümü üzerinde yapılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde araştırma sürecinde geliştirilen “Yurt Öğrencileri Beklenti ve Memnuniyet Anketi” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın temel katkısı makalede detaylı bir şekilde tartışılan özgün değerlendirme yöntemi ve ekte sunulan tam araştırma ölçeğidir. Araştırma sürecinde geliştirilen “Öğrenci Beklenti ve Memnuniyet Anketi” diğer benzeri çalışmalara veya projelere örnek olacak niteliktedir.
