Monomer concentration effect on electrochemically modified carbon fiber with poly[1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1H-pyrrole] as microcapacitor electrode
(2009) Saraç, A. Sezai; Sezgin, Sibel; Ateş, Murat; Turhan, Metehan C.
In this study, films of poly[1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1H-pyrrole] [poly(MPPy)] were electrochemically grown on carbon fiber microelectrodes (CFMEs) in 0.05 M of tetraethyl ammonium perchlorate-dichloromethane. The effect of different monomer concentrations (range = 1-10 mM) on electrochemical propert6ies of resulting polymers was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, Fourier transform infrared reflectance-attenuated total reflection spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. All modified CFMEs were found to have capacitance on the basis of Nyquist, Bode-magnitude, Bode-phase, and Admittance plots. An equivalent circuit model of (R(C(R(QR)))(CR)) gave the best fit for all monomer concentrations used. Furthermore, SEM and AFM results showed that poly(MPPy) was formed as a continuous and well-adhered film onto CFME. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Scan Rate Effect of 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1H-Pyrrole Electro-coated on Carbon Fiber: Characterization via Cyclic Voltammetry, FTIR-ATR and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy
(Esg, 2012) Sezgin, Sibel; Ateş, Murat; Parlak, Elif A.; Saraç, A. Sezai
Poly(1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1H-Pyrrole) films were electrodeposited onto carbon fiber micro electrodes with different deposition rates by using cyclic voltammogram in the presence of tetraethyl ammonium perchlorate (TEAP) / dichloromethane (CH2Cl2) as electrolyte solution. Scan rate effect on the electropolymerization, morphology and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic behaviour of modified carbon fiber micro-electrode was investigated. Electro-growth process was achieved by applying various scan rates of 10, 20, 40, 60 and 100 mVs(-1). Poly(1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1H-Pyrrole) coated CFMEs were characterized by FTIR-ATR spectroscopy. Surface morphology of the polymer films were characterized by using Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Besides, capacitive properties were recognized by electrochemical impedance measurements. Capacitive behaviors of coated carbon fiber micro electrodes were defined via Nyquist plots, Bode-Magnitude plot and Bode-phase definitions. As a result, a good correlation was obtained between electro-growth processes, electrochemical impedance data and morphological studies.
