Investigation of the Mediating Effect of Strategic Posture on the Relationship between Environmental Conditions and Firm Performance on the Logistics Sector
(Istanbul Univ, Sch Business, 2023) Ozmutlu, Saniye Yildirim; Can, Esin
The effects of environmental conditions on firm performance are investigated in this study. Within the scope of the research, the relationships between the strategic posture and the performance of logistics companies in varying environmental conditions were examined. During this study, the interaction between variables was also investigated by predicting the presence of the mediating effect of strategic posture. In this context, a research model and related research hypotheses were developed. The created research model was comprised of the three-dimension of environmental conditions developed by Dess and Beard (1984), six dimensions of strategic stance developed by Venkatraman (1989), and firm performance variables. A survey related to the research was conducted with 264 people working in managerial positions in 218 logistics companies operating within the scope of the research to test the hypotheses in the research model. The analysis of the obtained data was performed by the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method utilizing the SPSS and AMOS software program. According to the analysis results, it was determined that the strategic posture variable has a full mediating effect between environmental conditions and firm performance. As a result, by enabling logistics companies to realize their strategic posture features, information was provided to guide them on how to improve their performance in changing environmental conditions.

The Critical Impact of Sustainability Innovations on Green Supply Chains
(IGI Global, 2023) Ozmutlu, Saniye Yildirim; Arun, Korhan
The prevailing business methods have a strong focus on environmental sustainability. To that aim, the rising concern about environmental issues in the supply chain has sparked the growth of green supply chains. Organizations are also highly interested in planning and implementing green strategies. In that case, the innovative approach is labeled as the primary driver of change from traditional to green in the supply chain. Therefore, environmental sustainability innovations are examined in this chapter as the forces behind the green supply chain in organizations. 172 waste management and recycling companies are the samples of the study, where path analysis with partial least squares-based structural equation modeling was conducted to test the hypotheses. The findings demonstrate a strong connection between green supply chains and improvements in resource conservation, energy reduction, managing environmental communication, and pollution. © 2023, IGI Global.

The effect of environmental competitiveness, customer and competitor orientation on export performance
(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd, 2024) Arun, Korhan; Ozmutlu, Saniye Yildirim
PurposeCustomer orientation (CO) means meeting customers' needs better than competitors. Competitor orientation means using and acting upon the knowledge of competitors. Thus, the main aim of this study is to analyze the effects of environmental competitiveness on export performance by examining the moderating roles of these variables. Design/methodology/approachBased on data from 5,000 firms from a survey run in 2021 in Turkey facilitated by the Chamber of Commerce, the authors tested their hypotheses using partial least squares structural equation modeling and correlation analysis. FindingsThe results show that competitor orientation positively affects the relationship between a competitive environment and export performance. However, the authors do not find evidence of a significant effect on CO. Practical implicationsService sector managers should sacrifice customers to gain export market share in favor of superiority with competitors. Originality/valuePrior research has yet to emphasize the importance of competition intensity in export performance for service-logistics firms. However, the environmental competitiveness-performance relationship is better explained with the help of these test results and the two additional moderators suggested in this work. Moreover, the export performance indicators were gathered from an independent source.
