Kuş Evleri Üzerine Düşünmek ve Yeniden Tasarlamak: İlk Yıl Tasarım Stüdyosu Deneyimi

Abstract

Farklı medeniyetler tarafından kuşlara önem verilmiş ve söz konusu ilgi sanat eserlerinde kuş temasına yer verilerek gösterilmiştir. Uçabilmeleri nedeniyle hayranlık duyulmuş, Tanrı’ya yaklaşabildikleri gerekçesiyle kutsal sayılmışlardır. Tüketim amacıyla kendilerine ve gübrelerine daha kolay erişebilmek ve sistematik olarak toplayabilmek için çeşitli yuvalar yapılmıştır. Osmanlı Toplumu’nda da bu bağlamda kuşlar için yapılar inşa edilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra diğer medeniyetlerde görülmeyip Osmanlı Devleti bünyesinde görülen bir uygulama vardır. Burada kuşlardan fayda sağlanması düşünülmez. Bu yapılardaki amaç sadece kuşların barınması isteğidir. Kuşlar için yapılan kuş evi şeklinde ifade edilen yapıların diğer özelliği, insanların kullandıkları yapıların cephelerinde yer almalarıdır. Osmanlı Mimarisi’nin bir unsuru haline gelmiş kuş evleri, günümüz Türk Toplumu’nda uygulanmamaktadır. Kuş evlerinin tekrar hatırlanması ve yeniden tasarlanması için Tekirdağ Namık Kemal Üniversitesi, Mimarlık Bölümü, birinci sınıfında okuyan 36 öğrencinin katılımı ile bir çalışma yapılmıştır. Çalışma 2019 - 2020 Eğitim Öğretim Yılı, Güz Yarıyılı’nda gerçekleşmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında öğrenciler kuş evleri ile ilgili metin okuması yapmış ve farklı malzemeleri kullanarak kuş evi maketleri gerçekleştirmiştir. Makale kapsamında amaçlanan, öğrenilen ve meydana getirilen ürünler ile ilgili bilginin paylaşılmasıdır. Makalede öncelikle kuş evlerinin Osmanlı Toplumu ile Mimarisi açısından önemi üzerinde durulmuş ve temel özellikleri aktarılmıştır. Ardından kuş evleri ile ilgili öğrencilerle gerçekleştirilen çalışma hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Söz konusu ürünlerden örneklere ait görseller sunulmuştur. Amaçlananlar, elde edilenler ve çalışmanın öğrencilere katkısı değerlendirilmiştir.

Birds have been given importance by different civilizations and this interest has been shown with the theme of birds in art works. They were admired for being able to fly and considered divine because they could approach God. Various nests have been built in order to access them and their fertilizers more easily and to collect them systematically. In this context, structures were also built for the birds in the Ottoman Society. On the other hand there is an implementation that is not seen in other civilizations, but seen in the Ottoman Empire. The benefit from birds is not considered in this implementation. The purpose of these structures is only the desire to shelter birds. Another feature of the structures expressed as bird houses for birds is that they are located on the façades of the buildings used by humans. Bird houses which have become an element of Ottoman Architecture are not implemented in today's Turkish Society. A study was carried out in order to remember and redesign the bird houses, by the participation of 36 first class students of Department of Architecture in Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University. The study was practised in the Fall Semester of the 2019 - 2020 Academic Year. Within the scope of the study, the students read text about bird houses and made models of bird houses by using different materials. The aim of the article is to share information about the learned and produced outputs. First of all in the article, the importance of bird houses in terms of Ottoman Society and Architecture is emphasized and their basic features are explained. Afterwards, information was given about the work carried out with the students about bird houses. The photographs of the bird houses are presented. Objectives, achievements and contribution of the study to the students were evaluated.
