Ernst E. Hirsch'in otobiyografisinde Türkiye değerlendirmesi

Abstract

Alman hukuk profesörü Ernst E. Hirsch 1933 yılında, Nazi rejimi nedeniyle Türkiye’ye göç etmiştir. Türkiye’de 20 yıl görev yapan ve Türk vatandaşlığına geçen Hirsch, 1982 yılında Almanya’da yayınlanan Aus des Kaisers Zeiten durch Weimarer Republik in das Land Atatürks-Eine unzeitgemässe Autobiographie başlıklı otobiyografisini kaleme almıştır. Hayatının tüm aşamalarını, ülkelerin tarihi süreçleri çerçevesinde ayrıntılı olarak aktardığı ve üç bölümden oluşan eserinin üçüncü bölümü Türkiye’deki yaşamına dairdir. Hirsch bu bölümde Türkiye’ye dair birçok bilgi aktarmaktadır. Ancak, bu bilgi aktarımında özellikle, yabancı profesör olma durumu ve reform sürecinde dil unsurunun etkileri üzerinde durduğu dikkat çekmektedir. Bu konuları, hem Türkiye’nin hem de yabancı profesörlerin içinde bulundukları durumlar çerçevesinde değerlendirmektedir. Bu bağlamda eser Alman edebiyatında Türkiye’nin Cumhuriyet tarihine ilişkin bilgilere yer vermesi açısından önemlidir. Eserin kapsamı oldukça geniştir. Ancak, Hirsch’in hemen her kısımda Türkçe, dil çalışmaları, çeviri konularının önemi üzerinde durduğu görülmektedir. Bu nedenle, yürütülecek bu çalışmada, Hirsch’in dil konusundan yola çıkarak yapmış olduğu değerlendirmeler ele alınacaktır. Böylece, Alman yazınında yer alan Türkiye imgesi konusunda Alman Edebiyatı alanı başta olmak üzere, çeviri, tarih ve sosyoloji alanlarına da katkı sağlanması amaçlanmıştır.

Ernst E. Hirsch, German law professor, migrated to Turkey in 1933 because of the Nazi regime. Hirsch who worked in Turkey for 20 years and became a Turkish citizen wrote the autobiography that published in Germany and named Aus des Kaisers Zeiten durch Weimarer Republik in das Land Atatürks, Eine unzeitgemässe Autobiographie. The second part of his work, which consists of two main chapters, and he wrote the every phases of his life in detail within the framework of the historical process of the countries is about his life in Turkey. Hirsch gives alot of information about Turkey in this part. However, it is remarkable that he especially focused on his “foreign professor” status and the effects of the language element in the reform process. He evaluated these subjects within the framework of the status in both Turkish and foreign professors had. In this context, this work is very important because it gives information regarding to history of the Republic of Turkey in the German literature. The content of the work is quite wide. However, it is seen that Hirsch focused on the importance of Turkish, Language studies and translation in almost every part. Therefore, in this study evaluations that is made by Hirsch based on language will be discussed. Thus, it is aimed to contribute the discipline of translation, history, sociology and especially German literature which include the Turkish image in it.
