Osmanlı kadın hareketi öncülerinden hanımlara mahsus gazete’de ideal evlilik ve aileye bakış

Abstract

Osmanlı Devleti’nde Tanzimat Fermanı’yla ivme kazanan batılılaşma süreciyle beraber toplumda önemli değişimler yaşanmaya başlamıştır. Sosyal hayatta ataerkilliğin baskın olduğu Osmanlı toplumunda, modernleşme süreciyle birlikte kadının yeri yeniden sorgulanmaya başlamıştır. Kadınlar kurdukları kadın cemiyetleri yoluyla toplumda aktif rol alarak, çalışma hayatına atılmış ve kendilerini ifade etmeye çabalamışlardır. Kadınların kendilerini ifade ettikleri araçlardan biri de hiç şüphesiz o dönemde gelişme gösteren basındır. Kadınlar, çıkardıkları kadın dergileri ve gazeteleri aracılığıyla kendilerini anlatabilme ve toplumsal konularda söz söyleme şansına sahip olmuşlardır. Bu çalışmada, dönemin kadın dergilerinden biri olan Hanımlara Mahsus Gazete’de, ideal evlilik ve aile anlayışının nasıl olması gerektiği, gazetede yer alan yazılar temel alınarak incelenmiş ve değerlendirilmiştir.

In the Ottoman Empire, significant alterations in the society began to take place with the westernization, which especially gained momentum with the declaration of Tanzimat Edict. In the Ottoman society, where the patriarchal rule was dominant, the status of women in society has begun to be requestioned with the modernization process. Women, through the founded women communities in this era, actively participated in social life, take part in working life and strived to express themselves. One of the means that women utilized for the expression of their demands, without any doubt, was the developing press. By this means, women had a chance to utter about social issues through women’s magazines and journals. In this study, how ideal marriage and family perceptive ought to be is analyzed and studied based on the newspaper articles and columns published in “Hanımlara Mahsus Gazete” one of the leading women magazines of the period.
