ORTA DERECELİ BİR OSMANLI MEMURUNUN MAL VARLIĞI: EDİRNE BOSTANCIBAŞISI HACI VELİYÜDDÎN B. HABİB’İN TEREKESİ

Abstract

Osmanlı tarihi kaynakları içinde Şer?iyye sicilleri önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Bu siciller içerisinde bulunan veya bazen müstakil olarak da rastlanılan tereke defterleri Osmanlı sosyal ve iktisadi tarihi araştırmalarında bize çok önemli veriler sunmaktadır. Bu defterlerin incelenmesi ile tereke kaydının yapıldığı döneme dair durağan da olsa bazı bilgilerin elde edilmesi mümkündür. Ölen kişilerin mirasçılarına bıraktıkları menkul veya gayr-i menkulleri içeren tereke kayıtları ile ailenin ekonomik durumu, eş ve çocuk sayıları, geçim kaynakları, mutfak ve yemek kültürü, beslenme alışkanlıkları, giyim kuşam kültürü, mesken durumu, eğitim ve kültür durumu ile ilgili birçok veriye sahip olunabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Edirne Bostancıbaşılarından El hac Veliyüddîn b. Habib?e ait verileri içeren 1768 tarihli Rodosçuk şer?iyye sicillerine kaydedilmiş tereke kaydı incelenerek elde edilen bilgiler ölçüsünde bazı değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. Adı geçen kişinin terekesi incelenirken giyim ve kuşamı, mutfak eşyaları, ısınma ve aydınlanma eşyaları, ev döşemeleri ve yatak takımları, atları ve silah takımları, mücevherat ve takıları, diğer muhtelif ev eşyaları ve Husunlu karyesinde bulunan çiftliğindeki tüm eşya ve emlâkı ayrı ayrı bölümler halinde değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca, mezkûr bostancıbaşının tereke defterindeki eşyalar kategorize edilerek tablolarda sunulmuştur. Osmanlı Devletinde oldukça önemli bir mevkiden emekli olan El hac Veliyüddîn b. Habib?in terekesinden hareketle XVIII. yüzyılın ikinci yarısındaki Osmanlı maddi kültür öğeleri tespit edilerek değerlendirilmiştir.

Judicial court registers are among the most important Ottoman historical sources. The heritage record books which both were one of the mentioned registers and could be kept independently provide very important data for social, economic, and historical research about the Ottoman Empire. The examination of these books may enable to obtain some information regarding the period when the heritages were recorded. Including the movables and immovables bequeathed by the deceased people to their inheritors, the heritage books may provide many data concerning the economic conditions of families, the number of spouses and children in the families, sources of income, cuisine and food cultures, feeding habits, clothing cultures, habitations, and educational levels and cultural levels of the families. In the present study, the heritage record dated 1768 containing the data belonging to the deceased Edirne Chief Gardener El hac Veliyüddîn b. Habib included in the judicial court registers of Rodosçuk (Tekirdağ at the present time) is examined. In the light of the obtained information, some evaluations have been made. During the review of the heritage of the deceased chief gardener, his clothing, kitchen utensils, heating and illumination materials, house coverings and bedclothes, horses and weapons sets, jewelry and ornaments, other various household goods, and all of his belongings and estate in his farm located in the village of Husunlu have been evaluated separately. In addition, the belongings of the above-mentioned chief gardener included in the heritage record book have been categorized and presented in tables. Based on the heritage of El hac Veliyüddîn b. Habib retired from quite an important position in the Ottoman Empire, the tangible cultural elements seen in the Ottoman Empire in the second half of the 18th century have been identified and evaluated.
