Film-Roman Karşılaştırması: Jurek Becker'in Sinemaya Uyarlanan "Yalancı Jakob" Adlı Romanı

Abstract

Kimi romanlar vardır, film gibi; kimi filmler vardır roman gibi. İşte o roman ya da filmlerden birisi, Jurek Becker'in Jakob der Lügner (Becker, Jakob der Lügner, 1982) (Yalancı Jakob) adlı Romanı ve aynı adla çekilen filmleri. Çalışmamıza konu olacak Filmlerden birisi 1999 yılında Peter Kassowitz tarafından Hollywood'da çekilen ve başrolünü Robin Williams'ın oynadığı; diğeri ise 1974 yılında Frank Beyer tarafından çekilen başrolünü Vlastimil Brodsky’nin oynadığı filmleridir. Romana, ağaçlardan bahsedilerek, Getto'da ağaçların yasak oluşunun anlatımıyla başlanırken, Hollywood Filmi bir gazete parçasının ardından sürüklenen, gazeteyi yakalamaya çalışan Jakob sahnesiyle, DDR filmine ise Jakob’un hasta olan Lina ile ilgilenmesi sahneleriyle başlanır. Roman'da iki son varken, Filmlerde tek son, Hollywood filminde idealize edilen bir son, DDR filminde ise romandaki sonlardan birisine uyan bir son vardır. Bu çalışmamızda, bu ve buna benzer dikkat çeken sahnelerin karşılaştırılmaları yapılacak, ortak benzer ve farklı yönleri ele alınacak sebepleri üzerinde durulacak, Ayrıca Jurek Becker'in ele aldığı ve çok önemsediği konu ve kullandığı motifler irdelenip anlamlandırılmaya çalışılacaktır.

There are some novels that feel like movies, and there are some movies that feel like novels. Here is one of those novels and movies, the novel by Jurek Becker entitled Jakob the Liar and the movies of the same name. One of the movies that will be the subject of my work is the film shot in 1999 by Peter Kassowitz starring Robin Williams. The other movie is the one shot in 1974 by Frank Beyer starring Vlastimil Brodsky as the leading actor. The novel begins with talking about trees and the fact that they are not permitted in the Ghetto while the Hollywood movie begins with a scene in which Jakob tries to grab a piece of newspaper that has been drifting in the air. DDR movie begins with a scene in which Jakob takes care of Lina who has fallen ill. There are two separate endings in the novel; there are, however, only one ending in both movies that is in line with one of the endings in the novel. In the present work, we will compare these and similar striking scenes, discuss their similarities and differences, in addition to elaborating upon the reason for them. Furthermore, we will try to explain the subject and the motifs that Jurek Becker deals with and considers very significant.
