Osmanlı'dan Günümüze Öğretmen Okullarında Coğrafya Öğretmen Eğitimi: İstanbul Darülmuallimîn'i (Çapa Öğretmen Okulu) Örneği

Abstract

Günümüzde öğretmenlik mesleği için üniversite bünyesi içinde eğitim fakültelerinin yönetimindeakademik alan bilgisi, genel kültür ve pedagojik alan bilgisi eğitimi verilmektedir. Böylece akademik vetoplumsal gereksinimleri karşılayabilecek nitelikli öğretmenlerin yetiştirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Osmanlıdevletinde ilk olarak öğretmenlik mesleğini icra edenler medreselerdeki müderrisler ve daha sonra döneminilkokulları olan ilk öğretmenler, sıbyan mekteplerindeki muallimlerdir ve medreselerdeki müderrislerdir.Modernitenin önermelerine uygun şekilde öğretmen yetiştirme fikri Batıda ilk olarak Fransız devrimi ilebaşlamışyan, Osmanlı Devleti’nde ise 1848 yılında ilk öğretmen okulu olan Darülmuallimîn’nin açılması ilegerçekleşmiştir. Darülmuallimîn başlangıçta rüşdiye mekteplerine öğretmen yetiştirme amacıyla kurulmuş;daha sonra sıbyan mektepleri, idadiler ve sultanilere öğretmen yetiştirmeye başlamıştır. Uzun yıllarÇapa’daki görkemli binasında hizmet veren bu kurum 2014 yılında fen lisesine dönüştürülerek tarihsahnesindeki yerini almıştır. Türkiye’de öğretmen yetiştirmede uzun yıllar önemli bir rol üstlenmiş olanDarülmuallimîn’in, coğrafya öğretmeni yetiştirilmedeki yeri bu çalışmanın esas amacını oluşturmuştur. Buçalışmada nitel araştırma yönetemlerinden doküman incelemesi kullanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda geçmiştengünümüze kadar geniş bir bakış açısı ile genelde öğretmen yetiştirmede, özelde de coğrafya öğretmeniyetiştirme konusunda yapılanlar incelenmiştir. Dokümanların içeriğini analiz etmek için de eski adıyla ÇapaÖğretmen Okulu’nda yeni adıyla ise Çapa Fen Lisesi’ndeki resmi yazışma belgeleri, coğrafya ders kitaplarıve öğretim programları, yardımcı ders kitapları, eğitim istatistikleri ve diğer dokümanlar incelenmiştir. Eldeedilen bulgulara göre; Darülmuallimîn’in ya da Çapa Öğretmen Okulu’nun ülke çapındaki okullara coğrafyaöğretmeni yetiştiren, coğrafya ders kitapları ve coğrafya öğretim programları hazırlayan önemli bir role sahipolduğu tespit edilmiştir.

Prospective teachers are provided with general culture, pedagogical formation and special field education in higher education institutions, especially in education faculties. With this training, it is aimed to train fully equipped teachers who can meet the needs of the age. In the Ottoman period, firstly, the teachers who performed the teaching profession were the teachers in the primary schools and the professors in the madrasas. The idea of teacher training, which started with the French revolution, was found in the Ottoman Empire in 1848 with the opening of Darülmuallimîn. This institution continued to exist under different names during the Republican era and in 2014, the mission of educating teachers ended with the transformation of the school into a science high school. Darülmuallimîn was an important place in the history of education in Turkey. It played an important role in teacher training. The main purpose of this study is to determine the contribution of Darülmuallimîn to the training of geography teachers. For this purpose, document analysis method, one of the qualitative research designs, was used. In this research, which focuses on the training of geography teachers, it has been examined what has been done and what success has been achieved in terms of teacher training in general and especially in the training of geography teachers from the 19th century to the present day. In order to make in-depth analysis, geography books and programs, supplementary resources, statistics and other documents were examined. As a result of the findings; It has been determined that Çapa Teacher Training School, known as Darülmuallimî, has trained geography teachers in schools in all regions of the country and played an important role in the preparation of geography textbooks and curricula.
