Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Meslek Seçiminde Etkili Faktörler

Abstract

Bu çalışma hemşirelik bölümü öğrencilerinin meslek seçimini etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Tanımlayıcı tiptekiçalışma Namık Kemal Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören 208 hemşirelik öğrencisiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler öğrenci tanıtım formu veHemşirelikte Meslek Seçimi Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Öğrencilerin %83.2’si kadındır. Öğrencilerin %69.7’si hemşireliği kendi isteğiile seçtiğini, % 10.6’sı mesleğini değiştirmek istediğini bildirmiştir. Öğrencilerin meslek seçimi ölçeği mesleki uygunluk alt ölçeği puanortalaması 62.91±16.23, yaşamsal nedenler alt ölçeği puan ortalaması 45.17 ± 17.10 olarak bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin ölçek maddelerindenaldıkları puanlar değerlendirildiğinde en yüksek puan ortalaması 84,03±18,39 ile ‘Her zaman insanlara yardım etmek istemişimdir’ifadesi, en düşük puan ortalaması ise 20.19±24.92 ile ‘Hemşirelik dışında yapabileceğim başka iş yok’ ifadesidir. Öğrencilerin ailedebakıma muhtaç birey varlığına, kendi isteğiyle hemşireliği seçmesine, iyi hemşire olacağına inanmasına, hemşire olmaktan mutlu olmasınave mesleği sürdürme niyetine göre mesleki uygunluk alt ölçeği puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı fark bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Ayrıcaöğrencilerin hemşireliğin maddi gelirini yeterli görme durumuna göre yaşamsal nedenler alt ölçeği puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı farkbulunmuştur (p<0.05). Araştırma sonuçları öğrencilerin hemşirelik tercihinde hem mesleki uygunluk hem de yaşam koşullarının etkiliolduğunu göstermiştir. Bununla birlikte mesleki uygunluğun yaşamsal nedenlere göre daha öncelikli olduğu söylenebilir.

The aim of the study is to determine the factors affecting career choice of the nursing students. This descriptive study was carried out with 208 nursing students at Namık Kemal University. Data were collected through the use of Turkish version of the Vocational Choices in Entering Nursing Scale, and the student introduction form. 83.2% of the students are females. 69.7% of the students said that they chose nursing with their own will and 10.6% declared that they want to change their career. It was found that vocational congruency subscale score mean was 62.91±16.23 and survival motivation subscale score mean was 45.17±17.10. The item ‘I always wanted to help people’ had the highest point score (84,03±18,39) among all items; the item ‘I can’t do anything other than nursing’ had the lowest point score (20.19±24.92) among all items. It was determined that there was a significant difference between vocational congruency subscale mean points of the students according to the presence of someone in need of care in the family, choosing nursing with desire, wanting to continue the nursing career, being happy as a nurse, believing that he/she is a good nurse(p<0.05). Moreover, there was a significant difference between the mean scores of survival motivation subscale according to the students’ satisfaction about nursing income (p<0.05). These results showed that both vocational congruency and survival motivation are influential in the nursing career preference of students. However, it can be said that vocational congruency is a priority over survival motivation.
