Methods: The validity and reliability of Turkish version of Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1) Symptom Checklist was assessed in a sample of 579 university students from Namik Kemal University, Tekirdag. All participants completed the Turkish ASRS, Turkish Wender Utah Rating Scale (WURS), Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R), Perceived and Peer-Related Objective Success Scale (PPOSS) and Structured Developmental History Questionnaire (SDHQ). Results: Principle component analysis revealed two factors (inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity) explaining 41.6% of the total variance. Reliability analysis showed that the Turkish version of ASRS has a high level of internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha=0.88). Cronbach's alpha coefficients for 'inattention' and 'hyperactivity/impulsivity' subscales were also high (0.82 and 0.78). Additionally, the correlation coefficients for two-week test-retest reliability among the 50 subjects were high (for total scores, r=0.85; for two subscales, r=0.73-0.89). Pearson product-moment correlation coefficients were revealed that the subscales and total score of the ASRS were significantly correlated with the WURS (Pearson's correlations=0.46-0.52, p<0.01) and the SCL-90-R (Pearson's correlations=0.54-0.61, p<0.01). Female subjects scored higher on both two subscales and total scores of ASRS (female: 25.89 +/- 9.55, male: 22.33 +/- 11.20; p<0.001). Conclusions: These results suggest that Turkish ASRS is a reliable and valid measurement to aid in screening for adult ADHD.
