This adverse condition becomes a threat especially for historical cities in terms of protection. Because historical cities have important cultural heritage areas which include natural, historical and cultural values. Integration of cities with the development of contemporary cities and also ensuring the sustainability of their unique characteristics is only possible by preserving the historical urban landscapes where all these important cultural heritage are displayed. Within the scope of this research, the concept of historical urban landscape has been discussed and how this concept emerged is examined and tangible and intangible values of historical urban landscapes are mentioned.
