Bu çalışmada Tekirdağ kent merkezindeki çocuk oyun alanları mahalle ölçeğinde belirlenerek alanları hesaplanmıştır. Mahallelerde yer alan 0-14 yaş grubundaki çocuk sayılarına oranlanarak mahalle ölçeğinde ve kent ölçeğinde çocuk başına düşen çocuk oyun alanı miktarı tespit edilmiştir. Mahalle ölçeğinde; 15 mahalleden sadece 3 tanesinde 1 m2 den fazla, 9 tanesinde 1 m2 den az, 3 tanesinde ise çocuk oyun alanı olmadığı görülmüştür. Kent ölçeğinde ise çocuk başına düşen oyun alanı 0.556 m2 / kişi olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu oranın 3–6.5 m2 / kişi değerlerinin çok altında olduğu ve çocuk oyun alanı sayısının yetersiz olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yapılan anket çalışması ile de mevcut oyun alanlarının kullanıcılar tarafından yetersiz (tasarım, eleman v.b) ve güvenli bulunmadığı tespit edilmiştir.The constitute an important part of playgrounds, urban locations, open green areas. On suburb scale; it is seen that in only 3 of 15 suburbs this was more than 1m2 , in 9 less than 1m2 and that in 3 were no playgrounds. And on city scale; the playground per child is determined as 0.556 m2 /person. It is determined that this ratio is much below the values 3–6.5 m2 / person and that the number of the playgrounds are insufficient.
