dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study is to determine the place and the importance of the swimming pools in water usage, and the amount of the consumptive water in Tekirdag City Center. 37 fresh-water swimming pools in Tekirdag City Center were evaluated in the extent of this study. The quantity of water evaporated per unit area, and the amounts of water lost because of other reasons and the fresh water added to the system were measured in a randomly chosen sample swimming pool for the study. Total amounts of evaporation, system loss and the fresh water added to the system were determined by comparing the measurement results obtained in the sample swimming pool to the other swimming pools. Total water surface area of all swimming pools was measured as 8960 m(2), and the water volume was measured as 14875 m(3) Total water consumption of the swimming pools was determined as 39944,9 m3 Swimming pools demand increased together with the life standards of the society, and this demand revealed a new shareholder to the consumption of the limited fresh water sources.
