Özet
Landscape architecture which is a discipline of ecological data based physical planning aims functional and aesthetical space design fitting for human activities and needs in cities. In Landscaping, ergonomic, anthropometry studies which have much in common, the aim is to perform studies to improve the physical space design at a maximum level in terms of comfort, health and safety. All environments and accessories used by people must comply with anthropometric data and, accordingly, it must be ensured that people move free from any dangers and comfortably in any environment, improving of the life quality must be the principle aim (Yoruk et al., 2006). In this respect, it is of high importance that landscaping components and accessories used within the city are designed in accordance with the anthropometric measurements. This study is conducted on the Istanbul example in order to determine the conformity of landscaping elements widely used in our cities to anthropometric data. Therefore, regions of wide use in Istanbul are selected as research zones, current structural and plantal applications are examined in accordance with anthropometric data. According to the acquired data, along with the designs and applications fit to human use, those that are not fit to these measurements and especially disadvantageous in terms of safety are detected and suggestions are presented thereto.
