Öğe Preferences of inflammatory arthritis patients for biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs in the first 100 days of the COVID-19 pandemic(Turkiye Klinikleri, 2021) Kalyoncu, Umut; Pehlivan, Yavuz; Akar, Servet; Kaşifoğlu, Timuçin; Kimyon, G.; Karadağ, Ö.; Kiraz, Sedat; Mercan, RıdvanBackground/aim: To evaluate treatment adherence and predictors of drug discontinuation among patients with inflammatory arthritis receiving bDMARDs within the first 100 days after the announcement of the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and methods: A total of 1871 patients recorded in TReasure registry for whom advanced therapy was prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or spondyloarthritis (SpA) within the 3 months (6–9 months for rituximab) before the declaration of COVID-19 pandemic were evaluated, and 1394 (74.5%) responded to the phone survey. Patients’ data regarding demographic, clinical characteristics and disease activity before the pandemic were recorded. The patients were inquired about the diagnosis of COVID-19, the rate of continuation on bDMARDs, the reasons for treatment discontinuation, if any, and the current general disease activity (visual analog scale, [VAS]). Results: A total of 1394 patients (493 RA [47.3% on anti-TNF] patients and 901 SpA [90.0% on anti-TNF] patients) were included in the study. Overall, 2.8% of the patients had symptoms suggesting COVID-19, and 2 (0.15%) patients had PCR-confirmed COVID-19. Overall, 18.1% of all patients (13.8% of the RA and 20.5% of the SpA; p = 0.003) discontinued their bDMARDs. In the SpA group, the patients who discontinued bDMARDs were younger (40 [21–73] vs. 44 years [20–79]; p = 0.005) and had higher general disease activity; however, no difference was relevant for RA patients. Conclusion: Although the COVID-19 was quite uncommon in the first 100 days of the pandemic, nearly one-fifth of the patients discontinued bDMARDs within this period. The long-term effects of the pandemic should be monitored. © TÜBİTAK.Öğe Slaughter and carcass characteristics of Kıvırcık, Karacabey Merino, Ramlıç, German Black-Head Mutton × Kıvırcık and Hampshire down × Merino crossbreed lambs reared under intensive conditions(TUBITAK, 2020) Kader Esen, V.; Esen, S.; Karadağ, Ö.; Önenç, Alper; Elmacı, C.This study aimed to determine the slaughter and carcass characteristics of five different meat-type lambs reared under intensive husbandry conditions. For this purpose, a total of 202 lambs—Kıvırcık (K, n = 51), Karacabey Merino (KM, n = 47), Ramlıç (R, n = 28), German Black-Head Mutton × Kıvırcık (GBK, n = 49), and Hampshire Down × Merino crossbreed (HM, n = 27)—were used to evaluate rearing performance. At the end of the rearing period, 10 male lambs of each breed were randomly selected to investigate slaughter and carcass characteristics. All lambs were housed in a single flock until the slaughtering period. An average of 600 g/lamb of concentrate feed, 100 g/lamb of alfalfa hay, and 300 g/lamb of vetches-wheat mixtures hay per day were given with ad libitum fresh water. While the average daily gain (ADG) of female K, KM, R, GBK, and HM lambs was 94.4, 165.2, 142.2, 109.0, and 160.0 g (P < 0.001); the male lambs’ ADG was 167.3, 240.4, 180.5, 176.0, and 246.6 g, respectively (P < 0.001). Cold carcass weights of lambs in breeds were 19.12, 21.76, 16.80, 20.71, and 20.80 kg (P < 0.001); cold dressing percentages (CDP) were 47.39%, 47.55%, 44.86%, 47.41%, and 45.61% in K, KM, R, GBK, and HM, respectively (P < 0.01). It is concluded that Merino crossbreeds (KM and HM) had significantly more ADG and total weight gain when compared to K, R, and GBK. On the other hand, KM and GBK had higher CDP value while HM came forward for the loin eye area. © TÜBİTAKÖğe The determination of some, reproduction, growth and morphological traits in honamlı goats breeds(Namik Kemal University - Agricultural Faculty, 2018) Karadağ, Ö.; Soysal, Mehmet İhsanIn this study, aimed to determine some morphological traits of Honamlı Goat Breed which are widely reared in Turkey’s Mediterranean Region, especially The Taurus Mountains. Data on live body weight, body length, height at withers, height at rump, heart girth, chest depth, tail length, head length, forehead width, the front and rear shank circumference were collected from goats (n=200) kept by traditional farmer. Regression analysis was carried out for live weight with all the linear body measurements. The data were classified on the basis of age and gender pattern. Age and sex significantly (P<0.01) influenced all the body measurements. Live body weight and some linear body measurements were highly (P<0.01) and positively correlated for all ages. Regression analysis show thatlive weight can be estimated using measurements of chest depth, body length, chest circumference, forehead width, and front shank circumference. As regards reproductive traits birth rate, infertility, single and twin births rates were calculated, 87%, 13%, 71% and 28% respectively. The litter size and kid rate values were calculated 1.28 and 1.11 respectively. In this study, a total of 190 heads kids were used, twin and single kids birth weight 3.58 kg and 3.95 kg, weaning weight 24.94 kg and 28.69 kg, suckling period daily weight gain, 0.180 kg and 0.205 kg respectively. The average survival rate at weaning (120 days) was found 80 %. © 2017 Namik Kemal University - Agricultural Faculty. All Rights Reserved.
