Öğe An Examination of the Factors Influencing Consumers' Attitudes Toward Social Media Marketing(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2011) Akar, Erkan; Topçu, BirolSocial media and social media applications that build consumer communities involving rich user-generated content are new marketplaces and/or tools for marketers. This study aims to specify the factors affecting consumers' attitudes toward marketing with social media. Given this context, a 7-factor, consumer-based attitude scale that contains 32 items was developed, and a questionnaire was completed by undergraduate students between the ages of 18 and 24. Frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, factor analysis, and regression analysis were used for data analysis. In the end, six factors were found to affect consumers' attitudes toward marketing with social media.Öğe Role of conservative therapy in complicated giant pulmonary hydatid cyst cases(Bayrakol Medical Publisher, 2023) Haberal, Miktat Arif; Akar, Erkan; Dikls, Ozlem Sengoren; Ay, Mehmet Oguzhan; Demirci, Hakan; Ersal, Murat; Yuksel, MelihAim: The aim of this study was to examine the role of conservative therapy in cavitary lesions secondary to capitonnage suturing in the postoperative period for giant hydatid cyst cases within the context of the literature. Material and Methods: The files of 346 patients who had been operated in our clinic due to a hydatid cyst between 01 May 2010 and 30 June 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. Epicrisis reports and operation notes of 52 cases that had been operated due to a giant hydatid cyst were examined. Files of 7 giant hydatid cyst cases with postoperative cyst cavity were included in the study. Results: Cases were followed up for six months following the medical treatment. Surgical intervention was not performed for any of the seven patients whose treatment was completed, and their cavities closed spontaneously. The length of stay in the hospital was determined as 10-15 days (mean=13.1 days). Mortality and morbidity were not encountered in any of our cases. Discussion: In case of cavity opening in the post-operative period in giant hydatid cyst cases, unless complications such as bronchopleural fistula, pneumothorax, empyema or fluid retention giving air-liquid level inside the cavity occur, it must be assumed that capitonnage sutures were opened. We assume that implementation of infection treatment as the first option before surgery for the closure of the cavity may be more effective for spontaneous recovery of the patients without increasing their risks of mortality and morbidity.Öğe Spontaneous Pneumothorax Incidence and Clinical Features in Non-Intubated COVID-19 Patients(2023) Haberal, Miktat Arif; Akar, Erkan; Dikiş, Özlem Şengören; Ay, Mehmet Oğuzhan; Yüksel, Melih; Kaya, Halil; Demirci, HakanObjective: In this study, we aimed to review the pneumothorax incidence and results of patients receiving treatment due to COVID-19 infection. Method: A total of 41,525 cases who were admitted to the emergency department between 01 April 2020 and 01 January 2021 with COVID-19 symptoms were reviewed. Of these patients 14,611 were hospitalized. Clinical and laboratory features of patients who had been diagnosed with spontaneous pneumothorax with PA chest radiography were evaluated and included in the study. Results: A total of 11 cases who were diagnosed with spontaneous pneumothorax and had a positive PCR test were included in the study. Of these cases, 8 were male and 3 were female. The age distribution was 50-84 and the mean age was 66.5 years. None of our cases had received invasive or non-invasive mechanical ventilation before diagnosis. The most common comorbidities were chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (6/11) and hypertension (2/11). Pneumothorax was right-sided in six cases and left-sided in four cases. It was concurrently bilateral in one case. Conclusion: Spontaneous pneumothorax is a rarely encountered condition in COVID-19 patients and its pathophysiological mechanisms are still unknown. The incidence of spontaneous pneumothorax in non-intubated COVID-19 patients is approximately 10-fold more frequent then normal population. This result demonstrates that spontaneous pneumothorax incidence secondary to COVID-19 infection is much higher than expected.
