Yüksek öğretime yeni başlayan öğrencilerin uyum becerilerini etkileyen faktörlerin değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, yüksek öğretime yeni başlayan öğrencilerin uyum becerilerinde etkili olan faktörleri belirlemektir. Bu çalışma 2009-2010 eğitim yılında Namık Kemal Üniversitesini kazanıp kayıt yaptıran öğrenciler arasında 15 birimde öğrenim gören 799 kız, ve 865 erkek toplam 1664 öğrenci üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma tanımlayıcı tipte olup; kişisel bilgi ve hizmetlerde beklentiler, düzenlenen 51 sorulu anket formu ile saptanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler istatistiksel olarak tanımlayıcı ve çıkarımsal istatistik açısından bilgisayar ortamında PASW 18.0 programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca üniversite tarafından sunulan sosyal hizmetlerin öğrencilerin dört yıllık birimlere tercihlerindeki etkisi Binary Logit Model yardımıyla ortaya konmuştur. Araştırmanın sonucunda; elde edilen bulgulara göre kız öğrencilerin erkek öğrencilerden, birimin konumuna göre kampus dışındaki öğrencilerin kampus içindeki öğrencilere göre ve önlisansta okuyan öğrencilerin lisans programlarında okuyan öğrencilere göre önemli (p<0.01 ve p<0.05) düzeyde beklentilerin karşılanmadığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca binary logit model sonucuna göre üniversitenin sağladığı kütüphane ve bilgisayar olanaklarına önem veren bir öğrencinin üniversitenin dört yıllık bir biriminde eğitim görme olasılıkları sırasıyla 2 kat ve 1,5 kat daha fazla olduğu dikkat çekicidir.

The aim of research carried out is to determine the factors affecting the compliance skills of new students at higher education programmes. This study has been carried out using subjects of 1664 students consisting of 799 female and 865 male students attending 15 departments in 2009-2010 academic years at Namik Kemal University. The study being a descriptive type has been conducted to determine the expectation on services and personal information through PASW 18.0 computing programme in order to evaluate the statistics as descriptive and inferential. In addition, the effect of the preference of four year programmes of the students, considering the social services provided by the university, has been determined using Binary Logic Model. As a result of the research, it has been found out that the expectations were not fulfilled significantly (p<0,01 and p<0,05) according to the rate of female to male student, the location of the department being in or out of the campus, the associate degree to undergraduate degree students. Besides it is remarkable that according to the Binary Logic Model results, it has been found out that the possibility of a student who minds library and computing facilities becoming a student at a four-year programme is 2 and 1,5 fold relatively.
