Asya'nın İki Ucundan Görüşler: Türkiye-Japonya Algısı

Abstract

Türkiye'de Japonya hakkında bilgi ihtiyacı her geçen gün artmaktadır. Son yıllarda bu konuda yazılan kitap ve akademik çalışmalar artış göstermektedir. Buna rağmen, Japon toplumu ve kültürü, ülke durumuna yönelik bilgilerin yetersiz ve bazen de hatalı olduğu söylenebilir. Japonya ise, Türkiye hakkında uzun yıllardır araştırma yapmakta; toplum, dil ve kültüre yönelik derin incelemeler gerçekleştirmektedir. Türkiye'de henüz Japon Dili ve Edebiyatı kürsüsünün bulunmadığı yıllarda, çok sayıda Japon akademisyenin Türkiye ile ilgili araştırma yaptığı bir gerçektir. Günümüzde, artık Türk üniversitelerinde de Japonya çalışmaları hız kazanmıştır. Bu çalışmada, Türk ve Japon üniversite öğrencilerine anket uygulayarak, karşılıklı ülkeler hakkında nasıl bir algı olduğunu tespit etmek hedeflenmiştir. Bunun için, her iki ülkeden 100'er üniversite öğrencisine söz konusu ülke ile ilgili olarak ilk akıllarına gelenleri sıralamaları istenmiştir. Türk öğrencilerin Japonya hakkında oluşturduğu algı teknoloji ve Japon insanının çalışkanlıkları olurken, Japon öğrencilerin algısı daha çok Türk mutfağı ve Türkiye'nin tarihi zenginliği öne çıkmaktadır. Bu sonuç, her iki ülke ilişkilerinin geleceği ve izlenilmesi gereken yol hakkında ipuçları verecektir

A growing demand for information on Japan is noticable in Turkey. Conse?uently, the number of academic publications and books on this topic has also been growing in the recent years. Nevertheless, information about Japanese society, culture and country situation is sometimes misleading or altogether false. It is furthermore notable that Japan has also been conducting research on Turkey, its society, language and culture since a very long time. Even though in the past there were no Japanese Departments in Turkish universities, Japan was conducting such analysis of Turkey with the help of numerous academicians. Presentrly, the ongoing research on contemporary Japan has gained momentum. By creating a ?uestionnaire for Turkish and Japanese university students, this paper aims to uncover the mutual perception of our countries. More than 100 students are asked to describe their perception of the opposite country. Turkish students’ image of Japan shows that tecnology and characteristic features of Japanese people such as diligence define the perception. While Japanese students’ image of Turkey is focused on Turkish cousine and the country’s cultural and historical richness. This result, provides clues to the way in which future relationship between the two countries is likely to develop
