Experimental and numerical study of the tool-part interaction in flat and double curvature parts
Özet
A numerical model is developed to predict the process induced deformations of continuous fibre reinforced plastic plates which is made of AS4/8552 (Carbon fibre/epoxy) prepregs. In this way, Manufacturing costs can be reduced with elimination of trial and error approach. Sources of the process induced residual stress are clarified with the help of literature and implemented in 3D numerical model. In addition to the literature review to examine separate sources for residual stresses, an experimental measurement is conducted to observe tool part interaction which is quantified with strain gage which is embedded in prepreg. Numerical model is modified and verified with respect to overall deformation field of manufactured parts. Individual contribution of different mechanisms on overall deformation is discussed with the help of the numerical model. Moreover anisotropic friction between tool and the part is proposed to enhance the predictions of 3-D numerical model. © 2016, European Conference on Composite Materials, ECCM. All rights reserved.

Numerical modeling of single-storey precast frame's pinned connections with a special damper
Soydan, Cihan; Yüksel, Ercan; İrtem, Erdal (National Technical University of Athens, 2013)Single-storey precast frames with pinned beam-column connections are widely used in Turkey. This type of precast structures had suffered extensive damages during the recent major earthquakes (Ceyhan (1998), Kocaeli (1999), ... -
Micromechanical modeling of particulate-filled composites using micro-CT to create representative volume elements
Güven, İbrahim; Çınar, Kenan (Springer Heidelberg, 2019)A method based on X-ray micro-CT was introduced to create realistic representative volume elements (RVE) for particulate-filled composite materials. The method is applicable to most composite systems, and can be utilized ... -
Evaluation of median mandibular flexure values in dentulous and edentulous subjects by using an intraoral digital scanner
Gülsoy, Merve; Tuna, Süleyman Hakan; Pekkan, Gürel (Korean Acad Prosthodontics, 2022)PURPOSE. Mandibular flexure is a crucial phenomenon that may affect the success of rigid bilateral mandibular prosthetic treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the amount of median mandibular flexure (MMF) that ...
